Biography
A fan favourite for both his shot-making and his personality, Tony Johnstone is one of Zimbabwe’s most successful golfers and a pillar of Southern African golf.
He turned professional in 1979 and went on to win six times on the European Tour and an impressive 17 times on the Southern Africa/Sunshine Tour, twice topping the regional Order of Merit.
His two South African Open titles, a decade apart, underlined his staying power at the top of the game.
Johnstone later enjoyed success on the European Senior Tour and became renowned for having one of the best short games of his era.
Off the course he has become a much-loved television analyst, bringing a distinctly Southern African voice to global golf coverage.
For the Sunshine Legends Tour, Johnstone is a bridge between eras: a player who helped make the Sunshine Tour truly international, and a storyteller who now carries those memories to new audiences.
