Biography
John Bland was a model of consistency over a career that spanned more than four decades.
Turning professional in 1969, he became a dominant figure on the South African circuit, winning around 19 tournaments at home while also adding two European Tour victories. Bland was a regular presence near the top of the Sunshine Tour’s Order of Merit and one of the region’s most respected competitors.
At 50, Bland simply shifted his winning habit to the senior ranks. He captured five titles on the U.S. Senior PGA Tour (Champions Tour) and three more on the European Senior Tour, finishing high on the money list and contending regularly in senior majors.
His ability to compete – and win – across generations is exactly what the Sunshine Legends Tour aims to showcase: seasoned professionals whose class endures long after their first victories.
