Biography
Big-hitting Fulton Allem rose from Free State fairways to become one of South Africa’s most successful exports to the PGA Tour.
After racking up a string of victories on the Sunshine Tour through the 1980s, he used a strong showing at the 1987 NEC World Series of Golf to launch his U.S. career.
Allem would go on to win three times on the PGA Tour in the early 1990s, including prestigious titles at the Southwestern Bell Colonial and the NEC World Series of Golf, while continuing to add wins back home.
At his peak Allem was a symbol of how the Sunshine Tour could prepare players for global success. His victories in both hemispheres showcased the depth of Southern African golf and strengthened the link between local circuits and the world’s biggest stages.
Today his name sits naturally in the pantheon of Sunshine Legends whose careers connected South African galleries with international leaderboards.
