Chris Williams

Chris is known for a compact, reliable action and a competitive edge that hasn’t dimmed with age, he embodies the spirit of the Sunshine Legends Tour.

English-born but proudly South African, Chris Williams has been a consistent force in Southern African golf for more than four decades. Moving to Johannesburg in his late teens, he turned professional in 1978 and joined the Sunshine Tour in 1985, winning in his rookie season and eventually collecting seven Sunshine Tour titles along with multiple victories elsewhere in Africa.

His success at home opened doors to Asia, where he added two wins on the Asian Tour and was voted Asian PGA Tour Players’ Player of the Year in 1998.

When Williams turned 50, he simply shifted gears rather than slowing down. He earned his place on the European Senior (now Legends) Tour and has since won three times on that circuit – at the Aberdeen Brunei Senior Masters in 2011, the Sharjah Senior Golf Masters in 2017, and the Farmfoods European Legends Links Championship in 2021.

Known for a compact, reliable action and a competitive edge that hasn’t dimmed with age, he embodies the spirit of the Sunshine Legends Tour: a player shaped by Southern African fairways who has carried that standard confidently onto senior stages around the world.
