McGuigan set the tone with a strong opening 69, then made his move on day two with a superb 66 to surge to the top of the leaderboard.
From there, he held his nerve in the final round, signing for a closing 69 to finish on −12 (69, 66, 69) and secure his first South African Senior Open victory.
“Plettenberg Bay Golf Club is really one of those hidden gems of South African golf and one of the most beautiful courses on the Garden Route. I think that’s why I wanted to get involved in this. It’s about building something special that can also mean something for the local community in Plettenberg Bay.”James Kingston
Staged at Plettenberg Bay Country Club from 10–12 December 2025, the tournament was hosted by James Kingston, a Legends Tour Global Ambassador and proud representative of the club.
Congratulations to Doug McGuigan on a standout win in Plett, and to everyone involved in bringing another flagship South African Senior Open to life at “The Hidden Gem” of the Garden Route.
